Last week I was watching all the Black Mirror episodes I've missed the past few years. I got around to watching Bandersnatch, the "choose your own adventure" episode and for whatever reason, maybe I was tired enough, but I really liked it and comfortably slid into the mindset it was trying to induce. The feeling that every choice is predetermined and your'e not the one making it lingered in my mind for quite a while after watching it. I can see why some people would feel that it was a gimmick and find it boring, but it was right up my alley.
Yesterday I went to Hengen and Tiedon messut and saw a lady go into a trance and channel a bunch of spirits. It was a fucked up experience. She was hot-swapping spirits on a whim and I think that she might have even implied that she channeled the spirit of Leena-Rauni Luukanen-Kilde. It was hilarious how one of the spirits had to apologize that "sometimes people exaggerate and go overboard, but that's why God it there to forgive us", clearly referring to Rauni-Leena. She even kept repeating her old line "Kuolemaa ei ole", there is no death. It was a bizarre thing to witness, almost anxiety-attack levels of cringe on my part. She would go around the room commenting on the energies of the people in the room and give messages from dead people, especially if the person was an elderly woman. The medium that followed her act was way more boring, just cold reading the room and lazily spitting out messages to the audience from dead people.
The show the first trance lady gave had people in the audience fucking crying and it was pretty uncomfortable to watch her give messages from people's dead relatives. There's a lot to unpack from that session, it was an hour and a half of utter insanity. I remember at some point she channeled some sort of mega "multi-spirit" that was some sort of glob of multiple "energies" and she would quickly shift energies and her demeanor would change, like her posture and expression on her face. What was really amazing was not so much that she was doing to fucked up shit (there are plenty of lost people in the world) but that the audience just ate it up. After the fucking show people were fucking hugging her with tears in their eyes, even when she said in the beginning of the event she can't hug anyone after channeling spirits because it would "injure her aura" or some shit.
The show was a bad fucking joke and it was no surprise that she didn't give me any messages from "the world of light" as I was probably the only person there with an utterly stunned expression the whole time. Like somehow I'm the nutjob in a room full of people because I don't think this lady is channeling the spirit of a fucking angel.
