Holy shit time just fucking flies I'm legit scared.

I had to make some kind of update, it's been like a month since I wrote anything and I don't know where the time went. It's not like I haven't been doing anything, it's quite the opposite. I got a new monitor now and a work desk that has had really made my day-to-day life a lot nicer. I've also been reading some books I picked up and trying to get some stuff off the ground.

One thing I've been trying to get up and running is a new Raspberry Pi cluster. I've been dreaming of making one for probably a year now. I was on the fence for a while since this site *seems* to be working alright and I didn't really see a need to upgrade.

The site that inspired me to make a cluster

Then I read the above article that a guy wrote where he made his own cluster and talked about how he got Kubernetes and Docker running on it and used the cluster as a way to get more hands-on experience with both of them. After reading that and seeing to cool gif of the cluster I decided to go for it.

Originally I was going to build it with PoE adapters to power the individual nodes but after waiting weeks for the PoE hats I ditched that idea and just got normal Raspberry Pi power adapters. Given how bulky they turned out to be I ordered an USB power hub and I'm getting it express-shipped so it'll be here some time in the next few weeks. The adapters can serve to hold me over until then.

As you can see from the picture I posted, she's looking a little rough right now and I've ordered some spacers to keep it all together and make it a bit more presentable. It sucks that I blew money on the adapters that I won't really need soon but I just really wanted to get this thing up and running. It feels like I spent weeks waiting and I didn't want this is turn into another "cool project" that just gets forgotten about.

I've been trying to learn more about administering this site and been getting into setting up multiple virtual hosts. Right now I've finally successfully set up one subdomain and got it working for the private Levyraati group, you can now visit it at https://levy.m4ra.net . I've been thinking of maybe setting up some more sites as well once I get the cluster up and running. It'd be fun to set up multiple domains and subdomains.

I've also been reading a book on social media data mining that is really interesting. Social media is like the weather. For me at least, I barely care about it but it's a good thing to look into because it can have devastating effects. I also would like to work on something I could show to people as something interesting so my technical projects aren't so... solitary.I'm hoping to write something more about it once I get some results.

I deactivated my Facebook account now and I've been giving more thought about ditching Instagram. WhatsApp is going to have to stay because of work but almost everyone I care about is talking to me on Signal now. I'm really getting more and more comfortable with being more withdrawn. That I ever tried to be more social in retrospect just baffles me.

Otherwise I've been having little adventures in my life. My friend had a bachelorette party that was a lot of fun, but also a great workout. :D I went to see the circus on Monday, it was a small circus with about 10 people working for it and I thought it was amazing. The acrobatics had me at the edge of my bench and the clowns were pretty funny and well domesticated.
