So I saw a striking picture today on the front page of Reddit. It's a digital piece called "Little birdies" by Yuliya Litvinova. It's for a book called "Evilbook II" that collects horror art from mostly Russia but all around the world as well. The expression on the female angel, the blinded male, the details in the squalor, the binding of the wings. The image clearly alludes to human trafficking that, despite the fantasy theme of the painting, makes it seem all too real and grim. The used syringes on the floor makes the painting so desperate and horrifying. I love it. The top comment from the post really says it: "You know, if there were angels on earth, I won't even be surprised to see people trafficking them."
That picture has been hanging onto my mind the whole day, couldn't really shake it, but it wasn't in a bad way at all. Just a kind of awful appreciation of the painting.
Otherwise I watched a few episodes of a series on Circada 3301, that mysterious ARG or whatever. I've been fascinated by it for years, to the point I was doing steganograph challenges and what not, wanting to get into that kind of mystery. The Liber Primus to my surprise has not been decrypted so the mystery continues 4 years on. Gotta say, tempted to look more into it. I admire and understand the drive of the people in that video doing their best to understand the mystery, even facing the possibility that the Liber Primus might not even be decipherable.
