Days melt into each other. Feeling fatigued. I stay up nights solving riddles I find online. Hard to focus on the screen when I'm supposed to be working.

The last level of Left4Dead2 I played with my friend was amazing. It had all that quarantine aesthetic I was looking for in a zombie game. God who would have guessed we'd ever face something like this? This is like an existential crisis modern society is facing now, how are we going to restructure society after this? Or are we going to forget about it and continue on as usual? Probably the later to be honest...

I crossed the above image on Reddit a day or two ago and it creeped me out. There's a deep and unsettling force stirring around the world. A grim worldview where profit and self-interest go above everything else. I have a friend who I've talked about on this blog sometimes that is getting more and more into the far-right. She already has these disgusting views on minorities and vaccines. Just a week or two ago I got to hear a new offshoot of her worldview. Before I even heard of the "ReOpen" movements she was saying how quarantine is a government conspiracy and that "disease is nature's way of getting rid of all the weak people in society and we should just let it happen". I was already on the path of ghosting her for her fucked up and racist views but that just did it for me, there is no way anything I say will change her views.

National astroturfing effort in the US?

I can't shake this feeling that somewhere there are people with obscene amounts of hoarded wealth seeding the world with ideas that serve to keep them in power. Who knows, maybe this feeling has been manufactured by the discourse these very people have crafted. Since that Memexibition exhibit I went to I've been way more wary of what ideas are out there. It's like there's only certain kinds of ideas that can be allowed to exist in the Discourse(TM). It's all a game where people with the right amount of money and connections to PR companies can actually effect it. Everyone's seen that Netflix doc "The Great Hack". I have a more nuanced and sourced opinion that I'm honestly too lazy to put into words here. All I really wanted to share is that I'm feeling it, the vague sense that something is wrong and I'm powerless to stop it.
